Digital Mock-ups vs Artwork Proofs

Understanding the difference between a digital mock-up and an artwork
proof helps avoid delays and ensures your merchandise turns out exactly as expected.

Digital Mock-ups

Digital mock-ups are visual previews generated to help you explore ideas and make faster decisions. They are used to:

  • Visualise logo placement, scale, and overall look
  • Compare product options and decoration methods
  • Support early decision-making and shortlisting

Digital mock-ups are indicative only. Colours, sizing, materials, and decoration effects may vary from the finished product and are not production-ready. No approval is required at this stage.
Brandgenie allows you to create digital mock-ups and merchandise ranges (Moodboards) based on your brand style and logo so you can get an impression of how a product might look. Brandgenie can use this mock-up as a basis for production ready artwork which will be submitted to you for your approval prior to production.

Artwork Proofs (Approval Required)

An artwork proof is a production-ready file created once you’re ready to proceed. Artwork proofs:

  • Reflect exact logo placement, dimensions, and decoration method
  • Are prepared to supplier specifications
  • Must be reviewed and formally approved before production begins

Once approved, the artwork proof becomes the reference point for manufacturing. Production will not commence without written approval.

Why This Matters

Digital mock-ups help you move quickly. Artwork proofs ensure accuracy.
Brandgenie uses mock-ups to reduce uncertainty early, then transitions to formal artwork approval to protect quality, timelines, and outcomes.
